Text & OCR
Extract text or recognize scanned pages locally.
Open tool →Merge PDFs
Combine PDFs in your chosen file order.
Open tool →Split PDF
Split a PDF into files using selected page ranges.
Open tool →PDF to Images
Export selected pages as PNG or JPEG images.
Open tool →Images to PDF
Arrange images and create a PDF with your page layout.
Open tool →Process each file in turn. Export the current text result before switching.
For example, 1-3,5 exports pages 1, 2, 3 and 5 as separate images. Up to 50 pages per operation.
Higher resolution uses more memory and produces larger images. PNG preserves rendered pixels; JPEG uses a white background. Rendered text and vectors are no longer selectable or searchable.
Each image becomes one page in the listed order. Move or remove files below; image orientation is applied.
Images to PDF does not create a searchable text layer. Use text recognition afterward to extract text.
Processed locally. Inputs and outputs each total up to 50 MB; up to 50 images. Each image: up to 20 MB, 16 million pixels and 8,000 pixels per side. Images to PDF: up to 40 million pixels combined. PDF to images: up to 50 pages per operation. Static PNG/JPEG/WebP inputs are supported; encrypted PDFs are not. Practical capacity depends on device memory.
Hybrid: extract text layers first; OCR pages with no text. Choose OCR-only if an existing text layer is incomplete or incorrect.
Some pages have no text layer. Choose Hybrid or OCR mode to recognize scanned pages.
Limits: 100 MiB per PDF, 500 pages, 5 million output characters. Up to 30 OCR pages per task; OCR-only mode accepts up to 30 pages. Rendering is sequential, capped at 8 million pixels per page.
PDF.js, fonts and, when OCR is needed, the recognition engine and language models load from this site. Models may be cached in this browser. Your PDF and results are never uploaded or saved automatically.
How to use
Choose a PDF and a mode, then process. Hybrid extracts existing text layers and uses OCR for pages without text. Text-only skips OCR; OCR-only recognizes every page. Copy or export UTF-8 TXT. Cancellation and errors retain completed pages, with incomplete exports marked partial.
Will the reading order be exact?
Text extraction preserves PDF text order and infers spacing. Hybrid does not merge image text into a page that already has a text layer; use OCR-only for such pages or incorrect layers. OCR can misread characters. Columns, tables and handwriting may need corrections. Layout and images are not preserved.
Password-protected documents
This first release does not open PDFs that require a password. Unlock a copy locally using software you trust before extracting. This tool does not execute embedded PDF JavaScript or open document links.
Merge follows the file order below. Split accepts one file and page groups.
How does it work? For a PDF with 9 pages:
- Enter
1-3; 4-9to create 2 PDFs: one containing pages 1–3, the other pages 4–9. - Enter
1; 2; 3to create 3 single-page PDFs, containing page 1, page 2 and page 3 respectively. - Enter
1,3,5to create 1 PDF containing pages 1, 3 and 5, in that order.
Use a semicolon ; to separate files, a hyphen - for a page range, and a comma , to put selected pages in the same file. Pages start at 1. Only the specified pages are exported; the original file stays unchanged.
Local processing only. Up to 20 input files, 50 MB combined, 500 pages and 50 outputs. Encrypted files are unsupported. Rewriting invalidates signatures; forms, bookmarks and attachments may not be preserved. This is not a PDF sanitizer.
Further processing opens a new tab and keeps the source results. Files transfer only in browser memory; refreshing or closing a tab clears its files.
